Prior to joining the University of Iowa as University Librarian, John Culshaw was a member of the University of Colorado Libraries' faculty since 1991. Since 2009, he was the Senior Associate Dean of Libraries and managed finance, budget, procurement, personnel, information technology, security, facilities, and outreach/promotion. He started at CU as Electronic Reference Specialist in the Reference Department and was also the Faculty Director of the Systems Department from 1996 until 2008. In addition, he served as Interim Faculty Director for Reference and Instructional Services from 2006-2008. He received a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. In addition to graduate coursework in History at Marquette University, John holds an MS in Information Studies from Drexel University. Prior to arriving at CU, John was Administrative Aide at Haverford College's James P. Magill Library.
