The Library #ideadrop house will return this year again to connect the energy of the library community with the enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit pervasive in Austin for salon-style conversations in our library living room on March 7-11, 2014. Vist in person or on the live stream here. All times listed are local Austin time/ Central time.

E-Resources and Libraries (ER&L), ProQuest and the Digital Library Federation (DLF) are joined in Austin by an awesome group of orgs representing libraries, archives and museums. Meet them all.

Laura Martini

Counsyl
Director, Product Design
Martini learned how to be a proper nerd during her undergrad years at MIT where she studied mechanical engineering and anthropology, and worked in the MIT Media Lab with designer John Maeda. Like any clichéd product design résumé, hers includes stints at both Apple and the design firm IDEO in product design roles.

While getting an MS in Design at the Stanford d.School, she developed an interest in User Experience Design. She jointly lead a team of students on a year-long project in researching the museums and creating an exhibition.

She does freelance work with startups who need design and strategy assistance, and has worked with startups at the incubators Social + Capital and Harrison Metal, as well as the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Martini currently uses design to help people understand their DNA as the director the product design team at Counsyl, a biotech company in South San Francisco, CA. While her work has become increasingly strategic, she continue to love getting my hands dirty for everything from rapid prototyping to production-grade products.
